On Jan. 7, House Speaker Mike Johnson announced that Congressional leadership had reached a top-line spending deal to fund the federal government through the rest of FY 2024. Earlier this week, leadership announced that a deal had been reached on a continuing resolution that would fund the federal government through March 1 and March 8. To avoid a partial shutdown on January 19, the Senate passed the stopgap funding bill on Thursday afternoon and the House followed suit on Thursday evening. This move will avert a partial shutdown of federal agencies after Friday once President Joe Biden signs the measure.
