In the House
The Federal Relations team continues to monitor the House’s consideration of the America COMPETES Act, H.R. 4521. This week, the House began debate on H.R. 4521, considered a series of amendments to the legislation, and voted to pass the bill this morning.
Passage of this legislation now sets the stage for the House and Senate to come together in a conference committee to resolve differences between the America COMPETES Act and the Senate’s U.S. Innovation and Competition Act (USICA). The Federal Relations Team will track the conferencing process.

In the Senate
The Senate voted on Wednesday to confirm Shelly Lowe as the chair of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Lowe will begin her service following the President’s official appointment, which is expected in the days ahead.
The Federal Relations team extends our congratulations to Lowe, and looks forward to the continued collaboration between IU faculty and the NEH on projects and research relating to the humanities.
