Statehouse Update
May 20, 2022
The Indiana General Assembly will convene next Tuesday, May 24, at 1:30 p.m. for "Technical Corrections Day." Per Indiana Code, 1) the General Assembly must pass a concurrent resolution setting the date prior to adjourning Sine Die in the regular session and 2) the Speaker of the House and President Pro Tempore of the Senate must jointly determine that the cost and inconvenience justify meeting in "technical session" prior to asking legislators to return to Indianapolis for one day.
By law, technical corrections day can only be used to correct "conflicts among bills" and/or "technical errors in bills" passed earlier in regular session or to take action on bills vetoed by the Governor. The 2022 technical corrections bill can be found here and a table summary of its changes can be found here. (Note: There are no changes being made to "Title 21: Higher Education.") The Legislative Council will also meet at 10 a.m. on the same day to determine interim study committee topics and assignments for the summer.
